Little Black Rain Clouds

Rain, rain go away...

Looking back over this week I find...wait, still looking..........................still looking..........................wow! It has been a looooong week! I look back at all the pictures of things that happened this week and think "That was really just one week?" It seems much longer than that. A long week in which nothing, and several things, have happened. At least this week was a bit calmer than last week, I do have a few more bald spots, but at least the crazies are staying in my ears now.

"I sometimes find, and I am sure you know the feeling, that I simply have too many thoughts and memories crammed into my mind...At these times, I use the Pensieve. One simply siphons the excess thoughts from ones mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one's leisure."

Oh, Dumbledore...I would love to borrow your Pensieve!

Let's talk about the weather this week. I feel I could sum it up pretty good with one picture.
Hold onto your hair ladies!

Show of hands, who is done with the rain for a while?
Except for the few sunny spots we had this week, I believe its safe to classify this week as completely dreary, and a bit depressing. Which is perhaps why this week was so dreadfully long.
I'm a summer girl! I need my sunshine! Please don't take my sunshine away!

Lets not forget the hail storm early Friday morning! That was fun! I thought for sure our farm truck was a goner. Luckily not too much damage was done. We had some big branches down from the storm, and a lot of things got blown over by the shop (the Bunny House remained intact, only a bit soaked.)

So, rainy week, right? Rainy days call for rainy day movies! Let's go for a round of Hannah's Top 3 Rainy Day Movies!

1. Singing in the Rain (in A flat!)
Best musical EVER!

2. Julie and Julia
Hey, its a good movie ok? Makes me want to bake!

3. Harry Potter
Nuff said.

But now, let's leave the rain clouds for a while, and return to a day when there was some sun!

Lookit! I actually got in the pool this week! It was nice too. The day was over 80 degrees and it was very humid, so that helped, otherwise I'd still have been too cold.
Yes, that is a terrepene with me, he wanted a ride. I wasn't going to say no to him, little guys need to cool off too.

Baby girl also got to get in the pool for a few minutes.

She wasn't sure what to think of it. I think she liked being in the water, but the floaty bobbing up and down kinda freaked her out.

This week on the farm...
We had a few special visitors!
This is Bigfoot. A rather extra large grey squirrel who has been coming and visiting us every day. He saunters across the porch, looking in the windows, looking around to see if we've left him something special. I've always wanted a pet squirrel! Here Bigfoot, Bigfoot, Bigfoot, come let me love you!

And this is Backstrap! Or Dinner. I haven't decided yet. Come hunting season this guy and his larger male friend had better keep away! "Trespassers will be shot on sight!" They've been crossing our yard at random, this time was in the middle of the morning! So cool!

Something else that's pretty cool, Vanilla Dr.Pepper in a can! Umm YES! I'll have a whole case (but don't tell the Health page I belong to on Facebook. I'm supposed to be cutting back.)

I love this sign! I need it in my life. It is so true. I can prove it...
...Because I have a following. And this is only some of my birds.

My C.Q pullets are big girls now! They all got to start free-ranging on Monday, and I about had a coronary when I couldn't find them for a while. But they were just at the bottom of the hill exploring. Started out with ten, and if my count last night was correct (which I hope it wasn't, maybe I just over looked one) I'm down to eight. Not too bad, all in all. They should start laying end of July.

Perhaps its a good thing my computer wasn't cooperating last night so I couldn't post, because I had planned on a little section dedicated to...

...the only chick that Black Momma hatched out that lived. (Eight eggs, 4 hatched, 3 died.) But she went missing yesterday so I guess there's no point in saying anything else, other than GRRRR!!!

Meet our new additions!
This is McGonagall! This little sweetie is gonna help us take care of our mouse and mole problem. She gets to stay exclusively outdoors, because I'm allergic to cat hair and flea bites. But she is a doll, and is doing very well adjusting so far.

Meet Jack Harkness. (That is not his registered name but in keeping with our Whoven theme that's what we'll call him.) He is an American Blue and he is a sweetheart! I prefer him over both of our Doctors. (I know they aren't pets but if you gonna hang around them might as well like them!)

This is Martha Jones, also an American Blue. She came with a litter of four, they are about three weeks old I think.
Little dusty grey baby!

So, lets see. We have five mini Rex (they were supposed to be half New Zealand buuuut...) six California Blue babies, River Song (who is pregnant,) Jacky Tyler and her six, Martha and her four, The Doctor and Jack Harkness. That makes twenty-six rabbits! Don't worry, only five of them are a permanent residents.

Quick check in with Jacky, and you can see that her babies are getting big in a hurry! They are obnoxious little guys!

Let's move on to other things. One of the best things about this week was a double birthday partay! Actually a triple. My hubby and brother share a birthday and my brother-in-law's birthday is pretty close to theirs, so we had a big dinner at Mom's and there were presents and delicious food, fabulous desserts and oh so many laughs!
Big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to some of my favorite guys!!
(Birthday breakfast for the hubs. A little bit of all his favorites, Biscuits and homemade gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs...all the yummies.)

Uncle Uriah getting some birthday lovin.
Yummy brownies for dessert.

                                          Haha! Gotcha!

("I don't kill innocent animals. Only the ones that look guilty!")
Because I sometimes don't think things through very well, I didn't get my own husband's gift ordered until the day of the party, so it's just now on its way. No hints though! I'll show you guys when it gets here!

Let's check in on Baby girl and see what she's been up to!

Yep. That's what I thought. Trouble!
It's crazy how, in just a very short amount of time, she's picked up so many new things! She's started trying to climb the stairs, she can make it up two all by herself. She's pulling up (and letting go!) on everything. She's started saying "Up" in context, and she is always waving or blowing kisses to someone. She's started giving REAL hugs (which are the BEST!) and tells me she's ready to take a nap by coming over and laying her head on me. Oh, and she can mimic the kitten as well as the chickens now.

Update on sleep training, can I get a round of applause? She is sleeping all night now, and 80% of the time she goes to sleep with little or no fuss, and no body's brain exploded!

(Always check your mirrors, guys!)
She's obsessed with trying to drive. Sometimes we let her, but only down the driveway.

I don't know if its good or bad, but she uses her womanly wiles to get things, and attention. Mostly from older gentlemen. For instance, on Thursday we went to the little restaurant here in town. We were the only people there at the time, so we were eating and talking and enjoying ourselves, when the owner of the place came out to wipe down some tables. She took a fancy to him immediately! She started making eyes, and waving until he finally came over and talked to her for a bit, and they flirted back and forth. Then he went back to work, and she didn't like that so she turned around in her seat and yelled "Hey!" at him several times, so he came and got her and she got to go push buttons on the cash register for a while. It was pretty cute.

(Corn cobs are YUCKY! But she kept putting it back in her mouth so maybe it was the texture she didn't like.)

Just a few quick random things.
                                         Beautiful flower!
                                 Cranky looking baby birds.

And proof that I am an impulse buyer. Its a miniature flower pot! And it has its own dirt and seeds and everything. Do I need it? Probably not, but it was so cute! The store suckered me in and I had to buy it. Dave Ramsey would be so embarrassed of me. Haha!

Its been so rainy and yucky that a few of the days it got a little chilly in the house! No, we didn't really have the fireplace running but we were burning some newspapers and it was warm so baby and I took advantage of the heat! She loves fire, like momma like baby.

Long post for a long week. (Guess what! It's pouring down rain!)
I'm pretty sure my house will be fine, but the Bunny House might wash away. Hopefully y'all are avoiding the flash floods and enjoying your indoor time! Before I go I just have four things to say nitwit, blubber, oddment, and tweak.

The Crazies

This has been one of those weeks when, for whatever reason, life has been going too well and you have to get taken down a few (hundred) notches. The kind of week where you keep getting smacked in the face by curveballs no matter which way you go. I have decided to focus only on the positive and happy things on this post, because, really, do you want to read a post about stupid crap? I'm gonna go ahead and decide that you don't.

My face may have been stuck like this...oh, all week, but some good things did happen.

Happy 10 months to Baby K!

My goodness, how big she is getting! She has started waving, is learning to blow kisses, she can clap and say "Yay!" She is crawling better than ever, and is starting to pull up (on everthing! Women, watch your shirts!)

(She's pretty stinkin proud of herself.)

Then, of course there's this. Which will probably become an issue soon. Hello world of baby gates! Isn't that just gonna be precious?
Rabbit trail...she kept throwing her blocks through the hole in the steps then trying to get her head through so that she could reach them. This resulted in a very frustrated bout of banging her head off the steps until I made her stop. My baby, you guys, we're talking lots of talent.

On Tuesday we went to my sister's for dinner.
She made Shrimp Fra Diavolo (in ordinary people speak, its Shrimp Spaghetti.)

Really. Yeah. Just Yum. Only in all caps because that's how YUM!
Two of my favorite things. Shrimp, and Spaghetti.

On Wednesday we got to take a special trip to Pizza Hut, to satisfy some cravings that have been going around.
This is the classic "Please, sir, may I have some more?" act that gets her your last bite of pizza every. single. time.

Yeah! These two aren't related at all!

She needed to see the TV but only from atop daddy's head!

(This baby loves her daddy.)

Also on Wednesday she got to hang out with Brother A, whom we haven't got to see a lot since he started his job. But, they got some quality time watching a movie together...

...and reading stories. Fun times were had by all.

On Thursday we got to meet a neighbor and her cart pony, Hope.

AND we had spaghetti. Now I call that a good day.
(Baby loves spaghetti as much as I do. That's a good thing considering I usually make it once a week.)

On Friday I was sick as dog. Wonderful, helpful, delightful stomach bug. So I did absolutely nothing. I pretty much stayed curled up in the rocking chair wrapped in a blanket. In the evening I did feel up to making Chicken Parmesan Casserole. Look it up on Pinterest. Make it.  It was definitely a keeper recipe (this proclaimed by two pickys!)

Make it. Eat it. Love it.

On Saturday Baby got some new blocks from Grandma Bobbie.
She has played with them non-stop ever since.
Although, I'm not sure who likes them more...

 Brother...
...Or sister?
Keys have also been a big thing recently. All things keys are wonderful.
"I found your keys for you momma!"

This week on the farm...
We finished cleaning out the pool! Well, the kids did. They have been in it several times. Not me yet, thanks.

Baby got to sample the water, but it's still too cold for her to get in yet either.

I finally got around to weeding the front flower beds. In my last post I mentioned how the previous owners must have liked roses, but just so you understand how much they liked roses you should know that, so far, I've discovered nine different types of roses. And everything hasn't even bloomed yet! Here are a couple of the cool discoveries I made this week...

Jacky's babies are becoming more attractive every day. And their eyes are open now. The runt did die early in the week, but the others are doing great! Happy, fat bellies.

I love me some summer. Really, it's the only time of year I care about. One of the reasons is because all the critters get to come out and play.

Like this guy, for instance. He hangs out around the corners of the house waiting to surprise the chipmunks. Seriously though, whether you hate or like snakes...
...Isn't this face just the cutest?? I love these guys.

Wanna see something weird?

                                                         No explanation needed.

To end the week off I made my first ever rabbit meal. Baked barbeque rabbit. Oooooh yeah. If you know me, you probably know that I don't enjoy foods that are really messy and you have to use your fingers for (finger foods are different.) I'll pass on the wings and the ribs, and the foods you might get all over yourself while trying to eat. Basically I really, really like being able to use my fork. But I ate four of these, no fork, messy hands (probably messy face too) and I could have ate four more. I'll just go ahead and say, I am a big fan of rabbit. Big fan. Big fan.

To wrap things up, I must say I am very thankful for my life, my husband, and my family. Sometimes there are times that make you rip out your hair and develop a twitch until the crazies leak out of your ears, but that doesn't mean life is necessarily bad.
"This too shall pass."
